OverCharge Delirium XT is an energy drink featured in Sunset Overdrive, and is the successor to the UNTZ.
The drink was created and distributed by Fizzco, a fictional American beverage producer. In order to promote the new drink, Fizzco launched OverCharge Delirium XT in Sunset City while also skipping health code protocols in an attempt to release the drink faster to beat competition. Unfortunately, an untested ingredient (extremophiles) in the drink causes the consumer's endocrine systems to go into overdrive and mutates them into the OverCharge Drinkers or OD for short therefore putting the events of Sunset Overdrive into effect.
In game, Overcharge can be obtained by defeating enemies, destroying vending machines, searching trucks, completing missions and getting Gold in Challenges (once per challenge). It is used to buy new weapons, ammo and maps for collectibles from Two-Hat Jack.
Trivia[]
- A single can is worth seven cents.
- Rushing government testing for OverCharge would have been impossible since the Food and Drug Administration would have had to evaluate the product before authorizing its sales.
- Real life OverCharge cans were given out during E3 2014 and other conventions prior to Sunset Overdrive's release. Unlike in the game, the energy drink was clear as opposed to orange.
- OverCharge Delirium XT was originally called OverDrive in the beginning production. This is where the title of the game and the name of the OD stemmed from. Due to an actual energy drink already owning the name, it was changed to what it is now.
